what we value

HOSPITALITY IN EVERYTHING WE DO Our Hospitality Promise – We believe in the power and practice of hospitality and that it can transform the world one small act at a time. Our approach to hospitality is deeply rooted in Besa, the ancient Albanian code of honor that guides our dedication to hospitality and insists that anyone we encounter is to be welcomed, honored and well taken care of.As a SavCo team member, you are responsible for upholding our promise; being a hospitality generator - inspiring, creating and sharing hospitality in everything we do. HUSTLE. We thrive on the energy of our busy restaurants. We naturally move a little faster, and we love to get shit done! We demonstrate courage and confidence. We have a passion for creating and sustaining momentum in our restaurants and realize that one of the major ingredients to our success is good old fashion hard work. We know that the tribe must continue to grow in order to be strong, and that we each play a key role in growing our success, our community and our impact. MINDFUL BUSINESS We love giving back to our employees and our community, and that costs money. Profitability and success in our industry comes from a lot of small things working out just right, over a long period of time. We can only create lasting opportunities for passionate hustlers and those that we serve by having successful businesses making real profits. Each of us is responsible for contributing to the bottom-line; making all of the great things we do for our employees and our community possible for the present and for the future.

At SavCo Hospitality, we value Hustle., Hospitality in Everything We Do, and Mindful Business. Our Sava’s Employee Spotlight, Brigid Mooney, embodies all those values! Brigid has been the Private Dining Coordinator at Sava’s since 2017. She hustles by booking every and any event she can while always remaining hospitable and making sure everyone is taken care of. Her mindful business comes through by consistently making the most of our spaces, providing the guests what will make their event the most memorable, and by never cutting corners! Brigid lives by the quote "How we do anything is how we do everything!". Oh gosh Brigid, we just adore you! We asked Brigid a few questions so y’all could get to know her better: 1. Favorite thing about working at Sava’s >> “Everyone always says the people and they're so right! Our teams are filled with dynamic, hustlin’, intelligent, hilarious, golden-hearted hospitalitarians!!! But, in the spirit of originality, I will say it's definitely the opportunity to connect with so many different walks of life through my job. I find myself making lasting connections with guests, vendors, and team mates." 2. Interesting fact >> “I'm from Cleveland Heights (right next door to Cleveland)! That may not get a positive reaction here in Ann Arbor but it's something I always have been and always will be super proud of. It takes lots of guts to admit to it!” 3. Spirit Animal >> “A question I've been trying to come up with an answer to for almost 2 years, since I was asked this question during my interview! I will go with Spuds Mackenzie, we both love to hang around swimming pools and party.” Make sure to say HI to Brigid next time you catch her at Sava’s!

Whether he’s behind the bar crafting your next drink or bringing tapas to your table, Carlos is our fun-loving and hustling Employee Spotlight of the month! He has been working as a server and bartender since November 2017, and his favorite aspect of being a part of the Aventura team is getting to witness the passion and culture of hospitality that goes on both on the front lines of the restaurant and behind the scenes. We see this hospitality-focused drive in Carlos too, as he is always working to provide the best possible experience for our guests and his fellow coworkers. Outside of his position at Aventura, Carlos is an adrenaline junkie with a passion for the outdoors. He’s been riding his 140mm full-suspension mountain bike on the DTE Foundation Trail in Chelsea recently, but he has big plans to take his adventurous spirit to the next level and hike a large section of the Pacific Northwest Trail next year. Even outside of Aventura, he’s always looking to and elevate his game. For all these qualities and more, we appreciate you, Carlos!

Meet Maggie – the quintessential Hospitalitarian! What’s a Hospitalitarian you ask? Here at SavCo, we see it as a person who is authentically generous, welcoming, and passionate about taking care of others. Whether Maggie is in one of our dining rooms or holding our company orientation, her presence fills the room with warmth and kindness. She makes people feel recognized and valued through her attention to detail in every interaction and every aspect of the guest and employee experience. She'll remember your name, your favorite dish, and find any way to go above and beyond to make people feel good. Plus, she teaches others how to do it too! No wonder she’s our company trainer and oversees our greatest assets… our people! Lastly, Maggie is a USHG alum, bringing that New York signature hospitality right here to Ann Arbor. We’re so grateful for you Maggie! Here's a few random tidbits about Maggie:⁣ Officially, she's our Training & HR Manager and has been with us just over 2.5 years! Maggie's favorite thing about working at SavCo is: “All the incredibly bright, passionate, talented people that I get to work with. I feel honored to work for a company with so many lady leaders. I love that SavCo is the kind of place where we dream big and push the envelope – we do not place limits on ourselves and what we can achieve.” Maggie is originally from the Finger Lakes region of Upstate NY, a lake person much like many Michiganders, and enjoys running outside, cooking, puzzles, and miniature things! Her spirit animal is a fox, but not a cunning fox, a bushy-tailed, frolicking through the meadow-type fox. She’s an organized person who is energetic and playful at times, but also a quiet observer. Maggie’s partner is the one who bestowed this spirit animal on her when they first started dating because he said she was a bit inconspicuous.
